Equipped with a custom chassis, modified engine, and custom powertrain, there aren't many go karts like this one.

Safety first: a 5 point harness that fortunately never got put to use.

Did I mention Nitrous? A handful of whipping cream chargers fill up a repurposed fire extinguisher tank. Good for 53 MPH on a straightaway.

Sometimes, the best way to learn is to jump in the deep end and sink or swim.  When I started this project, I had no idea what stress concentration was, how to weld, how a carburetor worked, what a CVT was, or the significance of unsprung mass.  This was a project where I learned by doing, working for a few years in high school to modify and improve the design.

I designed and welded the frame myself, using off the shelf components for steering and drivetrain.  It's powered by a modified 16+ HP 4 stroke engine, going through a torque converter to a live axle.   While the powertrain turned out great, the steering could use a lesson in Ackermann geometry...
